I always love dressing up, even If I'am just staying in, I still want to make sure that I look good going into the next year (lol). Nothing wrong with that, right? The Hair Update

For the last two years ago I've been having the worst hair day, hair month, hair year! I couldn't get it right. It all happened after I decided to put honey blonde highlights in my hair. At first, I loved my new cute hair do. I never colored my hair before. I never cut it before. I never really did anything to it before. Many people warned me (like my Mother) but I was stubborn and I wanted flowy hair the color of Beyonce's. Here I am below posing for my 25th Birthday with my shiny honey blonde highlights. Little did I know what a nightmare I got myself into.

Flash forward months later and my hair was damaged! The color caused my hair to split and my stylist had no choice but to keep chopping it off until it was repaired. I took very good care of my hair while I had the color in but apparently it wasn't enough to keep the damage away.In the end, I was left with shorter hair and this horrible ashy sandy color, yuck. My hair was no longer shining, it was faded and dry, and just blaa.

So what did I do? .....

It's back. Phew! A complete difference from before right? I learned that after the color grew out, my hair would look a lot better, but how long was that going to take? Well it took almost a year before I saw any major improvements. Thanks to the support and advice from hairlista.com I was able to recover from this nightmare. The process was depressing! Every time my hair grew, I had to continue to cut it in order to get rid of the color on the ends. Luckily, my hair grew fairly quickly otherwise I could still be dealing with this now. It was a long process but it's officially over. I don't see any color left in my hair. I am writing this post for anyone who is going through this right now, because all of the advice I received really helped me to recover quickly. So what did I do?

1. Deep conditioner, Deep conditioner, Deep condition!
2. Moisturize the hair so it doesn't dry out
3. Never use bristle brushes or comb your hair a lot, finger comb
4. Low manipulation - avoid ponytails! wear your hair down at all times or in a bun
5. Avoid a lot of heat - don't curl it, flat iron it, or blow dry it! say no to heat
6. Protect your hair at night - sleep on a satin pillowcase and/or tie your hair at night
7. Last but not least, no more PERMS!

Now I will explain. Deep conditioners are great! I always make sure that I put conditioner in my hair and sit under the dryer for a few minutes with it in. This will make your hair really soft. I always roller set my hair and sit under the dryer, and I never blow dry my hair wet. I don't go to the salon often, and I try to do my hair as often as I can to avoid putting a lot of heat on it. I stopped putting a relaxer in my hair. I was never someone who put a relaxer in my hair often, it was usually every 5-6 months if I did do it. I know people who relax every three months. I guess it depends on your hair type but I've witnessed girls getting a relaxer in the salon when it appeared that they probably really didn't need one, they were being very picky about having super straight hair. I stopped relaxing my hair in late December so i'm approaching my one year hair-anniversary. I honestly haven't had any problems maintaining my hair since I stopped. I like my hair a lot better now that it's not stick straight, it's a lot thicker and fuller. When I do want my hair straight, I go to my Dominican stylist. Dominican salons are known for their amazing blow drying skills. After your hair has finished drying with the rollers in, with a small comb and a blow dryer your stylist can blow your hair super straight. This will last a long while.

My favorite hair product through this journey has to be the Moroccanoil Oil Treatment (click here). It restores over-processed hair that is effected by chemicals. The product is a bit expensive but you only use a very small amount of it so it will last a while. Plus, it's your hair. If you are serious about fixing damaged hair you must be willing to put in the cost and effort to make sure that it's done correctly. Well, that's my hair update! Ugly Sweater Holiday Party

I’ve been invited to my very first “Ugly Sweater Holiday Party" and I couldn't be more excited! It’s always great to add a theme to your party and when that theme includes a little humor it’s the perfect opportunity to take lots of photos to capture the event.

So how does one plan an “Ugly Sweater Holiday Party?” Easy!

1. Invite friends, co-workers and family

Online electronic invitation websites like Evite.com, Pingg.com make it an easy way to send out invitations at the last minute. If you haven't already, make sure you send out your invitations soon! It's difficult to plan things around the Holiday's because usually everyone is very busy with other Holiday events and Christmas shopping.

2. Find the perfect ugly sweater:

This can be difficult especially when you live in New York City. We don't exactly have ready made ugly sweaters hanging around at H&M. This may take a little creativity. You could either, find a decent looking sweater and then travel to your local arts store (such as Michaels) and pick up ugly patches, bows, ribbon, even lights to make your own crazy Holiday sweater. Another thing you can do is go to your local thrift store and see if they have any there. Start looking now because it may take you a while.

Bonus suggestion: Offer up a ugliest sweater contest to get your guests really in the mood! That way you can make sure that people will go above and beyond to have the most ugly sweater of all.

3. Food, Snacks, and Drinks

You can either ask your guests to bring a bottle or something or a treat, or provide everything for this event yourself. Appetizers are always the way to go. My top picks are: chicken fingers, stuffed mushrooms, meatballs/small sub rolls, shrimp cocktail, pigs in a blanket, spinach dip and chips, salsa and chips, brownies, cupcakes, cookies, and pie. Keep it simple, keep it easy. No one is expecting to cover over and have a full meal. Just make sure you say on your invitation that appetizers and deserts will be provided. For a drink, try a spiked eggnog with either rum or bourbon or a spiked hot chocolate to make a special warm surprise for your guests. Yum! You can also do holiday cocktails, holiday punch, tons of options! (click here to check them out).

4. Holiday Music

What's a Holiday party without holiday music? Just because it's a holiday party doesn't mean you have to chose boring tunes, find some of your teenage favorites or even some new Holiday Christmas albums, such as Mariah Carey's latest one "Merry Christmas." What's a holiday party without the Nsync "Home For Christmas" album, "Under My Tree" was my favorite (click here) what was yours?

The Thanksgiving Diet

Many people who diet or exercise are always paranoid about the Thankgsiving day meal and Holiday food in general. If you are on a diet this can be somewhat difficult. You are use to only purchasing certain items and avoiding temptation but at Thanksgiving around family and friends temptation will be everywhere. Carbs and sweets especially! What's the best thing you should do? Enjoy it! Don't limit yourself or hold back. Enjoy the day with family and friends. Eat what you want and how much you want.

The BEST advice I have is that when Thanksgiving is over, IT IS OVER! The worst thing you can do if you are on a serious diet plan is continue carrying over Holiday food and your Thanksgiving meal for the rest of the week! So that means, left overs stay left at the place you ate and if Thanksgiving was at your home, make sure you encourage your attendees to take some of the food with them. They don't have to take everything! You can still enjoy some of it, like the turkey which is really good for you and also some of the vegetables.

1. Triwa -Watch out! I love these Twiwa designs. I love how big and chunky they are, the band is super comfortable and the color layouts are amazing. The watches come in a variety of colors and styles. I want two for Christmas! I want a slightly more masculine one such as the black and gold and then a more feminine one like the grey and pink. 2. Beyonce Heat Perfume - Okay I know what you're thinking. Beyonce perfume? Really? I loved the 'Le De' Givenchy Perfume, Lola by Marc Jacobs, Princess by Vera Wang and yes, I actually like the smell of Heat by Beyonce. I attend the screening of her " I AM WORLD ... Tour" concert film in New York City on Sunday, and as we were leaving I was given a sample of her perfume. I'm not sure if I would have tried it otherwise but it totally worked! I'm hooked. I want a big bottle of it. I can't describe what it smells like because it has somewhat of an odd smell that I can't place my finger on but I do enjoy it. Halloween in NYC ...

In New York, Halloween is a big deal. Everyone gets dressed up and when we go out to party, we party. I went out for two nights and wore two costumes. The peacock was my favorite. I purchased a blue/green corset from a local store and glued the peacock feathers on it (thanks Karima!). I also did a very dramatic peacock inspired makeup look. I was going to get my makeup done at MAC but decided not to when I realized they were charging $50 dollars. Never fear, believe in yourself, I went to Sephora, and got this (click here) beauty in a box peacock set for a steal $10 bucks!

This conversation had me thinking how easily someone could accidently dress like a store employee and not even realize it. How many men have you seen at a party with black pants, a white buttoned down shirt (sometimes a vest) and black tie, and wondered if they were the waiter? One of the most embarrasing things that can happen is accidently asking someone for help in a store to find out that they are just a customer like you. We've all thought this in our heads while shopping "Does she work here?" or have said "Excuse me, do you work here?"when we weren't sure.

Make no mistake, you should avoid the following color combinations . . .

I know what you are thinking, I'd never wear this outfit. Okay maybe you wouldn't wear this exact outfit above, but its quite easy to take these two colors like I did, and not even realize that you became an honorary Best Buy employee. I bought this really cute royal blue shirt from H&M and paired it with a cute skirt not even realizing how the two colors could instantly remind someone of Best Buy. Luckily i wasn't wearing yellow anywhere in that day.

I've actually seem this combo out a lot believe it or not. Women all the time buy camel colored pants and pair it with a red top, the trick is to go with a different red so its not as noticiable. Whatever you do, should you decide to wear this combo, make sure you avoid entering a target or don't be shocked when someone asks for help.

ASOS.com, my favorite online store is coming to the U.S! ASOS is the UK's largest online fashion and beauty store. I must admit not paying international shipping fees does sound amazing, but I'm going to miss the gratification of buying something, and saying I purchased it from the UK (hahaha).

I also don't want it to turn into gap.com, oldnavy.com, forever21.com where the odds of you running into someone you know with the same outfit is high. I knew 99% of the time that if i were an ASOS.com dress to a party no one would have it on, and someone was going to ask "where did you get that dress!" I'm curious to see how similar the U.S site is to the one in the UK. I'm curious if all the same items will be available or different clothing and if the prices will be in the same range. I can only imagine in a year or so we'll see an ASOS store opening in New York like Top Shop. I'll complain again but then I'll proabably run there the very next day and spend my paycheck. TGIF! FALL 2010 COLLECTION

It's getting breezy in New York. I was itching to throw on a jacket yesterday but it jumped back into the 70s today, mother nature was like ‘not so fast’. Fine by me, but when it’s time I'm ready! Are you? You just checked out the Fall Collections from H&M and Banana Republic. Somewhat different stores but overall have the same ideas and concepts this season. You’ll find this look practically everywhere from Zara to Target to Old Navy. Now, you have an idea of what look is in this season.

Here are some must have items you should consider buying this Fall:

Tights – Love them!
Colors – cream, beige/camel, grey
Short Ankle Boot (Tall is in too but you must have a short!)
Poncho (yes, they are in this season. Not sure if I’ll get one yet though)
Big chunky sweaters
Large oversized jacket (aviator jackets are also really big this season, check out this one i am getting from ASOS.com)
Sweater coats (use a belt to tie in the look)
Skinny Pants/Skinny Jeans
A cute fall hat (I love hats)

Now you have a basic idea on what to look for. These are items you can find pretty much anywhere and mix and match to your liking. I highly suggest stopping at a vintage store or thrift shop to look for some cute accessories and hats! Vintage stores are great, you could also find a fantastic coat (that is one of my goals). My little sister Cachee found a pair of Christian Louboutin at a vintage shop in Brooklyn! Insane and lucky.

Spring may be on it's way out with Fall just around the corner but every season has room for shoe shopping. Last night I attended the grand opening of 'Call It Spring' Aldo Groups' latest collection. Call It Spring targets 15- to 30-year-old consumers consisting of less expensive and younger line of men’s and women’s shoes and handbags with shoes priced from $29.99 to $69.99, and handbags, $25 to $30. The opening held at New York's Manhattan Mall was filled with bloggers, writers, and fashionistas. For a behind the scene look at what went down, check out the video I made below.

If your not planning a trip out to NY anytime soon, no worries, the brand is scheduled to roll out to 100 JC Penny stores and jcp.com, as well as to 500 more stores in fall 2011. I love Aldo shoes and I was excited to hear about this more affordable line.

'Cocktails and Conversation' Networking Event: Part 5

Nikki, Ariel and I hosted another networking event at "The Yard" Soho Grand Hotel in NYC. Over 175 young professionals in Entertainment attended. The promise of rain was broken, lucky us! The outdoor BBQ/networking event for Young Professionals went smoothly as planned. Sad news, Nikki moved to Chicago but it doesn't mean that the party stops. Ariel and I will continue throwing these mixers and with Nikki's support, we've signed on two amazing new members. Not only do we want to continue putting together these networking events but we hope to branch out and do social events as well. Look out for our new company name and website very soon. Happy Sept 1st!

While watching this episode of "Kourtney & Khloe Kardashian; Take Miami" ( yes, I watch) it sparked a debate between my mother and I. My Mother told me that Kim's obsessive blackberry behavior reminded her a lot of me. Is it true? am I addicted to my Blackberry? Check out the clip that aired last week.

Okay I'll admit, at times I am a bit consumed with my phone. If I am not checking BBM, I'm texting or emailing. I don't talk on my phone that often but I'm usually on it checking something, anything. I've decided on the weekends to limit my Blackberry use. I vow to shut off my phone for hours and take that time to relax, read, write, do basically anything else than touch my Blackberry. I started this weekend and so far it went well.

Top 10 Ways To Know You’re Addicted to Your BlackBerry

1. You avoid walking into people or objects on your way to class/work, because your eyes are glued to your BlackBerry.

2. You wake up in the middle of the night for water and instinctively check your phone for new messages.

3. You play with your phone for comfort in awkward situations.

4. You keep your BlackBerry on the table during meals, next to your laptop and basically within eyesight at all times. When you must put it away, you have a designated pocket or compartment for it in your bag.

5. You spend an exorbitant amount of time playing games on your phone such as BrickBreaker.

6. You hear someone else’s phone vibrate and feel a desperate and searing urge to check yours. Or even worse, you hear a vibrating noise, check your phone and realize you were imagining it. (Side note: Hallucinations of the blinking red light are also common).

7. You base who your friends are on your BlackBerry Messenger contact list. For example, during a recent discussion with a friend about an old hook up that ended awkwardly, I asked, “so are you guys on okay terms now?” Her response: “Yeah, we’re good now — we’re BBM friends!”

8. You can’t stop yourself, even if you are with a group of people, from responding to messages or looking at your phone. After you finish typing, you might even look up to find that everyone else in the group is on their phones too.

9. You can’t get through work/class without checking your phone during the day. Once you see the blinking red light, you feel the incessant need to check who’s messaging you or what they are saying.

10. You feel anxious and stressed when your BBMs don’t go through. You have a panic attack when your battery gets low and will do anything to borrow a charger (including, as a friend of mine did, leaving a party to sit in a random person’s room until it had sufficient charge or even worse another friend who went to a AT&T store to unplug a phone they were selling to charge hers for 30 minutes). And if your phone actually dies, you feel naked without it.

August is almost here which means Summers end is near. No need to get sad because the end of the Summer is always the best time for shopping. Stores like H&M, Zara, Top Shop, Old Navy, Express, New York & Co. are trying to get rid of Summer clothes in preparation for the Fall. This is a great time for you to stock up for next summer. You will find great deals on shorts, tops, dresses and bathing suits. Run, don't walk because the word is out and it can be difficult to find sizes (especially if you are small).

What a perfect way to close off the Summer with a picnic on the beach. Hopefully that will happen before this warm weather comes to an end. I've never had a picnic on the beach before and the idea of it sounds really fun.

What you will need for a perfect picnic ...

1. The perfect day and time. Obviously, don't go on a day where it looks like it may rain or it's way too hot. Going early in the morning gives you a greater chance of finding a great location before the crowd comes, though going in the evening is much more romantic and cooler.

2. Good food and wine. Sandwiches are always a safe bet because it's an easy cleanup and not too messy to handle while sitting on a blanket. Choose foods that taste great cold. If you don't like sandwiches then try any other finger food. Try to eliminate the use of utensils and you'll make this picnic meal a lot easier to manage. Wine... do I really need to explain why? It's delicious. You can pick up small mini bottles at your local liquor store or supermarket but make sure you carry a small cooler to keep it in along with water and other beverages. It's pretty difficult to leave and return to the beach once you're already settled in, so make sure that you arrive with plenty of options for food and beverages.

3. Bring a blanket! Make sure it's big enough and comfortable enough for the amount of people attending. You can also try and find inexpensive beach chairs at stores like Walmart and Target. Though, something about sitting on a blanket makes it feel more like picnic then sitting in a chair... at least for me.

4. A picnic is only fun if your not melting in the sun. Either bring the shade by providing an umbrella or sit out away from the suns direction. Whether you love to tan or not, too much time in the sun (especially drinking wine) will leave you uncomfortable and unhappy.

5. The most important thing is to double check that you have everything before you leave for the beach. I hate it when I travel somewhere and realize i forgot something. Grab a picnic basket and stock up, and most importantly make sure you have a blissful time.

Yesterday I spent some time with my family. I got a new job! I start tomorrow. Friday, I said goodbye to my former coworkers and celebrated with friends at the Hudson Hotel's Sky Terrace rooftop in NYC. We sipped on sangria and blueberry mojitos. Cheers to new beginnings! I am overjoyed to see what happens in this next chapter of my life.

Blackberry messenger, texting, emails, Skype, ichat ... there are so many ways to communicate with the people around you. Still, nothing compares to opening your mailbox and discovering a letter. It's especially nice to receive a letter for no reason at all, it's not your Birthday or a special Holiday. A personalized letter always leaves a great impression. I picked up the July issue of Essence Magazine because I love Jada Pinkett. In addition to the great article on Jada, I also read a very interesting story in the relationship/dating section. Relationship Editor,Demetria L. Lucas, accepted theESSENCE Summer Dating Challenge, to let three people hook her up on dates. I immediately thought this was a smart idea. Friends, family and sometimes even co-workers are the people that know you the best. When I mentioned this idea to a single friend, she said that she always assumed if one of her friends met an amazing guy they'd know to hook her up. This is not necessarily true all the time. I think every girl has at least one or two great guy friends that they'd never date (because you see him more as a brother) but that would be a great fit for someone else. I can't say that I always set people up, I actually never do because I don't think about it.

In a twist, I decided to test out my own Summer Dating Challenge. Yes, Jonesy is single. I reached out to a few friends who were very quick in recommending a few good men I should meet up with. So far, this has turned out to be a great idea. Whether we stay friends or end up being more, I've managed to meet some great people in a short amount of time. If you are single, this is something you should definitely test out, it's worth a shot ... you never know who you could meet.

In getting ready for my date, I reached out to makeup expert Kim Porter for some makeup tips.

1. What are some important things to bring on a first date?

As far as makeup goes, you’re going to need a compact/mirror, blotting paper or powder, and lip gloss for touch-ups. You should also carry some breath strips, altoids or gum, and a small bottle of perfume to re-fresh during the date.

2. What are common first date makeup mistakes?

Too much makeup! That means heavy foundation, eyeliner, and blush. Wearing too much makeup can sometimes take away from your natural beauty. Most men actually prefer women who look more natural and whose makeup isn't noticeable over women whose makeup is obviously caked on, and clownish. You don’t want the guy to be fearful of giving you a hug because he might get makeup on his shirt! Or maybe you do… lol

3. I LOVE mascara. Maybe I love it a little too much. Is too much eye makeup a bad idea?

Eye makeup is fine. Just don’t go overboard. You can do a soft, neutral smoky eye, especially for an evening date. Just make sure your mascara isn’t clumped on, and the liner, especially on the lower lash line isn’t too heavy; it will make you look older, and sometime tired. If you’re a contact wearer like me, wearing too much eye makeup can mean makeup in the eye, which equals irritation. Your eye will water, and ruin your pretty makeup.

4. Lip color or no lip color? Glossy or no glossy? Glossy, bright lips can be distracting in general, how about on a first date?

In my opinion, you should accentuate the feature you like best about yourself. For some people it’s their eyes, and for others it’s their lips. If you go on a date, and you wear bright pink or red lipstick, the guy will first see those bright lips! You just have to think to yourself whether or not that’s what you want him to focus on first. Since corals, and light pinks are in for this season, I’d say go with a gloss in one of those shades that fit your complexion. It is fun and it’s flirty, and not too much. It will also complement a soft, smoky eye. Always go for gloss, since the color for the most part is sheer, and it isn’t too heavy. Stay away from sticky gloss! You don’t want anything stuck to your lips during your date.

5. Guys seem to love girls who look natural. What are some tips to have a natural look without feeling completely naked?

The no-makeup makeup look is easy to achieve. Conceal the areas that need the most coverage. If you have dark under eye circles, use a concealer that is at least 2 shades lighter, and blend out the edges with a concealer that’s the same color of your skin tone. Remember to set your concealer with a powder afterward to make sure it stays in place. Use a sheer powder to even out the skin tone and remove surface oils. Use a bronzer for a natural glow, and a peachy or orange blush over it. Use a brow gel to keep your eyebrows groomed. Groomed brows can shape your face, and make a world of a difference. The same goes for eyelashes. Don’t forget your mascara! If you’re not blessed with decent length lashes , try applying a natural looking lash for that extra flirty effect. Don’t go overboard with super long lashes. The key is to look natural.

Also, when wearing perfume, you don’t want to put too much to the point you smell like a perfume factory; this could really impact how long he wants to stay near you. I know you want to smell good, but when you apply too much, the scent becomes overwhelming, and sometimes nauseating.

6. Any final advice?
It's okay to add a few extra touches to enhance yourself; however, you should not go for a complete opposite look of how you normally look. It’s kind of like false advertisement. Nothing is more attractive than a woman who is comfortable in her own skin. When applying your eyeshadow always use an eyeshadow primer. This will help to smooth the eyelid prepping it for eyeshadow and will make shadow last longer and appear more vibrant. Your eyeshadow will last all night.

Do not use a foundation or moisturizer that has SPF in it (if you’re not in the sun for extended periods of time). Many sunscreens contain an ingredient called titanium dioxide which appears as a whitish, “ashy” appearance in photos particularly those with flash.

Hair Q&A

I've done a few posts on hair (here and here). Hair care is VERY important to me, making sure my hair is healthy and looks nice is something that I always try to improve on. Some people have certain things that they over analyze. Some people love makeup, some people love skin care, some people love fitness, some people love fashion - I love hair, ha ha.

When I discovered the website, Hairlista.com which is dedicated to hair care, I thought I died and gone to heaven. Not only did the site offer a ton of advice, friends (who also obsess over hair), but it also offered a forum for learning more about how to take great care of your hair. One of the first members I spoke with was Bronzeg. Her hair history is very similar to mine. She ran into a slight period of damaged hair and had to battle her way out. While I'm still on my journey she seemed to blossom full circle. Now, under some of her advice and a few others I am ready to start my own journey to long beautiful healthy hair once again. I sat down with Bronzeg to ask her a few questions.

1. What year (month if you know it) did your hair damage begin? What caused the breakage?

I'm thinking...Sepetmber '06....what caused it was..i had relaxed too soon after coloring my hair...and i had a weave in and there was hair left out around the perimeter..i relaxed the perimeter only..and i guess i didn't wash it out properly..and after that..my primeter slowly fell out..on top of the damage..

2. Based on your experience. Do you recommend people with relaxed hair to color their hair or get highlights?

i wouldn't say no..i'd say just be careful..and take EXTRA good care of your hair..especially when it comes to the treatments...but, color is not for every one..some ppl's hair cannot take color..no matter what...so, i'd suggest trying high lights first..before jumping into coloring the whole head.

3. How often do you go see a hair stylist? When you go to the salon, what do they do to your hair?

i don't see a stylist...never really have

I'd say..like a month or two for health..for growth...6 months...a noticeable amount

well...i don't really like to recommend products b/c i believe everyone's hair is different...i use lot of cheap stuff..and i prefer the brands catered to Caucasian women..b/c they usually don't have oil in them.. my hair is fine and any thing can easily weigh it down...i can't live w/o my lustrasilk shea butter and mango cholesterol

7. You said you don't like to wrap your hair at night. How do you usually wear it when you go to bed?

if i'm wearing it straight..i'll wrap for a day or two..after that..i'll just loosely wrap my hair round itself and clip it..very loosely as to not cause dents...if it's not straight..i'ts in a scarf and bonnett..i don't go to sleep with my hair loose...no ponytail holders..nothing

8. What's the best tip you have for taking care of your hair?

deep conditioning religiously!! and to limit the amount of heat usage

9. People say that African American women can't have very long hair, and the ones that do have long hair because of genetics. What do you think about this?

well..genetics play a role in everything about the human body..for that..i can't hate..lol..some of us have to work at certain things..and that's fine...i always tell ppl to worry about themselves..yea, most ppl think that most women of african descent cannot grow hair..and that's just untrue..hair grows..period..unless the follicle and/or scalp is damaged...it's the retention of this growth that's the problem..and it's mostly due to unhealthy hair care practices.

Back in January I did a mini profile on my friend Lori Lori (Click Here). I recently stopped by the set of Lori's silent film, Just Breathe. After months and months of hard work, the film completed shooting a few weeks ago. I can't wait to check out the film. For more information on Lori and her film check out her blog here.

The actors wore fun colorful feather boas, cute tights, and interesting party hats. Fashion in film plays a huge role. It can give an actor character and send a message to the audience. MSN Movies.com put together the Top 10 Film Fashion moments (click here). What are some of yours? I would have to say Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany's (click here) would be mine. I'm still obsessed with the fashion in that film. Capri pants, slim pants, the black turtleneck, ballet flats, pearls, flashy hats, trench coats and of course ... the little black dress.

Making this film has been a dream for Lori. Through weather changes, ups and downs, it's finally a wrap. I can't wait to check out the final piece when it's edited. Congrats Lori!

*sigh* blogging is tough. I'm sure you'll agree it's like a second job (well, if you have a job). I use to be so worried that I'm not posting enough, my posts weren't that interesting, I'm not following up with all my wonderful followers enough, and so on. Truth is, I try my best. I appreciate every comment, every "follow" add, and I make a point to try and check out everyone but it's not easy. Anyway, I'm still here. I'm still posting. You are appreciated. So is H&M! Country Side/ City Bound

I had a blast this weekend. My friend Laura, who I met in college, invited me on a road trip with her friends. We all packed up our bags and headed out to Maryland. We stayed at a beautiful home and met some amazing people. We even took the train into D.C for the day and stopped at the White House. Staying at a hotel is always fun and can often be luxurious, but staying with another family, meeting the neighbors, helping out around the home was so much more enjoyable. I walked away not only with an amazing weekend but a few new friends, and a ton of great memories.

It was nice day in Brooklyn (DUMBO) and as I was walking with a friend (Jessica) to the train, I spotted a store along the way. I stopped into, Stewart/Stand, a really cool store that sells amazing gifts.

From furniture to other functional design objects, the store is known for selling work created by local artists. From stationary to cool cups, bags, and beautiful wooden tables - you can find all types of really fun things to purchase in this store.

Father's Day is approaching, so I highly recommend all my New York shoppers to stop by some time soon. I walked away with a new love for shopping and some major bling bling. Also, I should note that a lot of things in this store are very affordable.

Event Alert - Elle Magazine Women in Music

Last night I attended Elle Magazine's Women in Music event in New York City. Elle Magazine Editor-In-Chief Roberta Myers kicked off the star studded concert with a warm welcome to the crowd. Performers included grammy nominated, singer-songwriter, Kelis, alternative all girl rock band The Like, and a surprise performance by the one and only Patti LaBelle.

We snacked on mini crab cakes, burgers and shrimp wrapped in phyllo dough, while sipping on some delicious cocktails. We bopped our heads to the sounds created by a chic female DJ, and watched as Garnier Fructis gave free hair makeovers.

It's nice out, which means no more hiding under layers of sweaters, loose jeans and jackets. It's Summer! Time for cute dresses, tanks, skirts, shorts, and time to get FIT! I always have the urge to start working out hard when it's warmer outside. I'm sure many of you know that I did P90X last year. For the most part, I've maintained this workout through out the year. Though, this Summer I am trying Shaun T's "Insanity" which is s 60 day long workout plan. The workout is exactly how it sounds... insane! Peep the video below.

So yes, I am on day 5. I think because I am use to doing P90X I've adjusted easily to this workout. It is not easy, I think the more I do it, the better I will be able to do these workout. For now they are brutal. My entire body feels it the next day. I live in New York which is notorious for subway stairs, and they are no fun on this work out plan. For someone who isn't use to doing anything like this, this workout can be a bit of a shock for you and your body. It's a high intense work out. You sweat like crazy and it's important to drink a lot of water and eat a balance diet to see results. I think one of the most important things to do when working out is to make sure you find comfortable clothing to do it in.

I usually like to wear shorts, a tank, sports bra and athletic shoes when I do my at home work out videos like P90X and Insanity. When I run, I like to wear long black leggings/stretch pants, a t-shirt, sports bra and athletic shoes. I like to be comfortable. The last thing I want to think about during my work out is my clothes getting in the way. What do you like to wear when you work out? The Gap and Old Navy both have very comfortable, cute, and affordable athletic wear.

I had an amazing time down by the beach playing with my two year old cousin Jadyn, and sharing stories with my Grandparents. I miss my family and the Vineyard. As a child we spent 2 weeks there every Summer, now I'm lucky to get 4 days. After finishing Graduate School, working full time and moving to New York, it can be hard sometimes to find the time to go home. When I do get the opportunity I treasure each moment, and cry like a baby on the bus ride back. I may live in New York but I always be a Boston girl.

When I finally arrived, I ordered a BLT w/ Cheddar from the Black Dog Bakery on Martha's Vineyard. This sandwich was delicious and I loved the crispy french fries. The perfect lunch on such a beautiful afternoon on the island.
