REVIEW: INDIAN HEMP & TAMANU GROW STRENGTHEN EDGE TAMMING TAFFY

Wednesday, November 27, 2013
I am always in search of a great product for my edges! Especially a product that will help moisturize my hair, tame frizz and fly always and give my high buns LIFE! I might have found the product...

Dress, Choies.com

I was going to add in a clip in extension to give my bun more volume but last minute decided not to. I took this picture and realized I can get a really full bun with my own natural hair. Super excited about the turn out! I love it. Click below for details!

Now, Let's get into what I used to slick my hair down!

NUBIAN HERITAGE: INDIAN HEMP & TAMANU GROW STRENGTHEN EDGE TAMMY TAFFY

My friend Augusta suggested this product and I mentioned it in my beauty and fashion profile on her. If you didn't get a chance to check that out click here. She really loves the way this product moisturizes her hair and tames her edges especially when she's wearing her hair in a ponytail and bunning. I've been searching high and low for a product that has the same benefits. A lot of naturals use Eco Styler Gel but I am still not in love with that product. It does not make my hair soft, it feels dry and it flakes on me when I apply it to my edges, even though it has excellent hold. I did not have those issues with this product. See below the pros and cons!

Pros:
- Contains bamboo, monoi & garlic extract
- Breakage prevention
- Promotes stronger hair
- All-natural, petrolatum-free
- Hydrates and repairs damaged, dry and brittle hair with hemp, tamanu, and monoi oils.

Cons:
- Price, I purchased mine for $11.99 at CVS. It was sold out for weeks! The container is very large so this might last me a while.
- Decent hold, not as strong as most gels. I heard that if you combine the product with water and apply to the hair it makes the hold stronger. I will have to do that another time. My hair stayed perfectly laid down in the bun for a few hours but once I got outside with the wind my tiny baby hairs started to stick up a bit.

Overall: At first it has a really weird consistency. It's rubbery but if you apply a small amount in your hands and rub it together, it helps break it down. It's great to moisturize your edges with and I've also applied it to my ends. After applying it all of my hair to slick down my bun, the next day my hair wasn't hard and my hair felt very moisturized and soft. It also gave my hair a subtle shine and reduced frizz. I will have to see how well my hair holds up over time so I cannot say whether my edges have improved yet. I plan on taking before and after pictures so stay tuned for that! Unfortunately, I have cowlicks so I shy away from pony tails or buns because they look weird on me (almost like having a bald spot) but I've been applying jamaican castor oil on that area to help improve it. Look out for a future bun tutorial and video review of this product on my Youtube channel.  Make sure you are a subscriber.
