NYC Cocktails & Conversation Event

Sunday, February 28, 2010
On Tuesday, Nikki, Ariel and I hosted our networking event in the Library Room at the Hudson Hotel in NYC. Even with the bad weather conditions, the event was a hit! More than 200 young professionals in music, film, new media, fashion and print gathered for some after work conversation and cocktails.
Our event was a great success and our next one will be in March.
(business cards we collected by the end of the night for next months invites)
(H&M: dress, necklace, tights and shoes - I love H&M, Bag: Chanel)

Product Review: Garden Lites (VIDEO)

Saturday, February 27, 2010
Today i woke up and decided to finally try the 'Garden Lites' all natural Butternut Squash Souffle.

I give this product 3 out of 4 stars. It was very easy to make and for something frozen it came across very fresh. It was light, fluffy and not bland. Most of the sweetness comes from the top crust of the souffle, leaving the inside with a natural butternut squash taste. At only 180 calories this dish is great! Try pairing it along with a small salad or as a side dish to a simple healthy dinner.

I got some bad news today. Remember Jadyn's meeting with Ford tomorrow? Click Here. Well ... it's been CANCELLED. I called to speak with the woman he would be meeting with and she told me she didn't realize he lives in Boston (Ford offices are in NY). She said the kids have to be available 5 days a week and for last minute castings. *sigh* So I'm disappointed but not defeated! I am going to start looking into modeling agencies in Boston and hopefully someone will be interested. I'll keep you posted on the results. Thanks for all of the support.

Sunday Funday

Special thanks to The Kissters for doing a post on this great deal! Free manicures. Who turns that down? I made a trip out to the city this morning to get my nails done from 'Spa Season' located in New York's West Village. The staff there are super friendly and the salon itself is very nice.

Tuesday is a big day for Ariel, Nikki and I. We're throwing our first networking event for young professionals in NYC who are employed in film, music, tv, and new media. Establishing relationships and contacts when you work in those areas (or really in any job) is very important. We found that we all needed to expand our contacts and what better way than throwing a networking event? It's been a difficult process thus far. A lot of venue shopping, meetings, handling the RSVP lists, etc. Finally all of our work is about to pay off ( I hope). Check in with me Wednesday to find out how the event went.

This free manicure definitely helped pull the look together but I also decided to go dress shopping as well.

So which dress did I choose? Check back in with me on Wendesday to find out : )

Say Yes Challenge - New Soup

Saturday, February 20, 2010
As you all know I am doing a 'Say Yes Challenge.' Click here for more details. My friend Karima asked me to meet her for lunch at one of our favorite Thai spots Saturday afternoon.

The challenge: eat soup

This may not sound bad to you but it is to me. The old me would have said "no thanks." When it comes to food I am VERY picky. I'm not adventurous at all. I stick to what I know and I don't order new things. When it comes to soup I only eat: tomato, chicken noodle and clam chowder. That's about it and I'd never order soup from a restaurant.

Flash back: In High School, the entire Volleyball team went to a Chinese restaurant for dinner. At this restaurant they served us some soup. I ate the soup - and the taste was horrific. Ever since then I vowed to NEVER eat a random soup from a restaurant. I stick to Moms homemade, the occasional canned low sodium Progresso and sometimes 'Hale & Hearty' in NYC but only the 10 veggie.

Trying soup from a thai restaurant ... I would have passed on. So I tried the soup and ...

It was delicious! Sooo amazing. I can't even explain to you how great this soup was. It was a basil chicken soup. I wish I knew the recipe so I could make it myself.

(my friend Karima eating the soup)

In addition to the soup. I also tried my first curry puff.

and this was also VERY good as well.

For the main meals I got healthy ginger chicken w/ brown rice.

and my friend Karima tried something new and got red curry chicken with white rice.

We had so much fun and some amazing Thai food. Moral of this story ...
try something new, you may end up just loving it : )

Lucky 100

Wednesday, February 17, 2010
So excited! I just reached my first 100 followers : ) so happy that each of you check in and see what lil ol' me is up to. Really appreciate it and all the wonderful comments! Now let's get back to business ...

11 things you should know right now:
1. My cute two year old cousin Jadyn scored a meeting with Ford Models (YAY!) thanks to me *patself on back*
I am taking him next week to the offices in New York. I can't wait to see him and take him there. I've been trying to do this with him since he was a baby and it's finally happening. Wish us luck : )
I'll be sure to take lots of pictures, upload them next week and let you know how the meeting went.
2. I haven't started taking those fish oil vitamins yet. I know I said i would a long time ago but for some reason I haven't started. I PROMISE to start tomorrow and let you know if i notice any changes by next month
3. My friend Ariel just told me about these deep fried cupcakes, ever heard of them? Click here. We may attempt to make them and blog though ... i don't think i'll eat too much of it, i feel sick thinking about it.
4. hmm what else. My friends, Nikki, Ariel and I have launched our own event planning company. Our first event is next Tuesday! I am excited yet very nervous. We still don't have a name for our company yet. Thinking ...wondering...pondering .. thinking but nothing is popping up. Anyway, I am in search of a nice outfit! This weekend i think i'll stop by Top Shop.
5. I bought this brand called Garden Lites. They sell this product called "Butternut Squash Souffle"
Ever tried it? Well I plan on trying it Saturday so I will do a review that day. I hope it's not gross.
6. I am currently watching 'My Life As Liz' on MTV. This show is actually oddly entertaining to me, i like it.
7. ... oh while watching My Life As Liz' I heard this song and I'm going to add it to my ipod. Lyrics . Check out the live version. Listen to the song here. It's really cool that MTV adds music in between commercials and these reality shows because thats how I've found a lot of my music. I heard it on some show and I decided to google and listen again.
8. I'm running out of stuff to share .. that's kind of bad. I guess I have nothing more to say. Hope you had a nice day!

Follow the feathers

Tuesday, February 16, 2010
Feather headbands are the new must haves, so they say. I love headbands! They’re an easy and usually inexpensive way to spice up any hair style. If you are a creative person you can make them yourself.

Now my turn ; )

the say YES! challenge

Sunday, February 14, 2010

So my beautiful friend Alexis (points down) challenged me to say YES!

Alexis thinks that I say "no" a lot. When I complained that I wasn't invited out by a friend, Lex helped me to realize that people don't ask me to do anything anymore because they know I will say "no." At first in my head i thought "what!."

I would have loved to say that my response was "that's not true" but then I let it soak in and they are right. It is true. During the weekday I usually go home straight after work to work out or relax (watch the Bachelor .. don't judge me). I enjoy spending my weekends pretty much also doing nothing, ha. I grew up as an only child so most times I do enjoy just being alone. I like to decorate my apartment, paint, take photos, write .. all things you can do on your own without leaving your apartment. I'm tons of fun right?

My spontaneity is lacking! I often use the excuse "If i knew a couple days ago I may have
gone but i'm not prepared" or " I can't go. I have nothing to wear." ( I have a closet full of clothes, some with tags on it).

So Alexis has given me a challenge. The "Yes Challenge"

Basically it means that I can't say no. When a friend asks me to do something I have to say yes. Tired or not. I must say Yes!
Now there are restrictions to this challenge... obviously if it's someone I don't particularly like or a complete stranger, I can opt out
(at least I think i can) but if it's someone in my circle, I must say YES!

So for the next two weeks I'll be blogging about the different things I've done just because I couldn't say no.
Alexis believes that by going out I'll meet more people, have a lot more fun, and of course have more fab things to blog about.

Wish me luck!

Happy Valentines Day to all of my followers
Have a wonderful day

I got this really cute shirt from H&M today. I love the puff sleeves. I paired it with two different skirts. Time to mix and match!
