"The best thing one can do when it's raining is to let it rain."

I am not a fan of the rain. I don't really know anyone who is. Though, it may be beautiful to listen to inside your apartment it's no fun when you are running around outside. On a rainy day here is what I usually have in my possession to keep me busy.
Nothing like a good pair of rain boots. If they're cute to boot ( no pun intended) what a bonus! Try these cute rain boots by Marc Jacobs. They come in a variety of colors and they're not heavy. I hate heavy rain boots. You feel like you are lugging around weights around your ankles. These boots are lightweight and easy to walk in. They are also very affordable. I got these on sale at the Marc by Marc Jacobs store in New York.

I said I was going to start reading a lot more this year. My first book was recommended by Oprah's Book Club. Nigerian-born Jesuit priest Akpan transports the reader into gritty scenes of chaos and fear in his rich debut collection of five long stories set in war-torn Africa. Buy here on Amazon.com. A good book is always a perfect solution on a rain day. Dip into a Starbucks, pull up a chair and get started or cuddle up on the couch with a warm blanket and comfy pillows.

Phone a friend. When it's raining outside most times we stay indoors. We watch television, read a book, watch a movie, or chat online with friends. This time is always a perfect time to call up an old friend or family member. I was raised by my mother and my grandparents who I saw every day of my life until I left for college. Though I am very close to all of them, I'll admit some times I need to call my grandparents a lot more often than I do. Even if it's a short conversation for 5, 10, 15 minutes it will brighten their day just to hear your voice. As we get older we must remember that these people may not always be around. It's important to take a little time out of your day and hear about how they are. A simple 'How are you?' can really go a long way.
