"Are you ready for some football?" I am

Super Bowl XLIV is only 17 days away! Even though my FAVORITE team The New England Patriots will not be playing this year, I still plan on watching . I love football (just ask my neighbor who hears me scream at the T.V Sunday/Monday nights ). What do I love just as much as football? Planning a party! A Super Bowl Party is always such a great idea to bring family and friends together. If you want to throw a party together here a few helpful tips and ideas.

The Outfit:

This really depends on what kind of person you are. Here are two different outfits you can pull together.

The comfort look: throw on a team jersey, skinny jeans and flats for a comfortable sporty look.

The Sexy Sporty Look: Rock a cute mini t-shirt and jeans, throw in a trendy boyfriend blazer with a sexy hot pair of heels for a flirty sports friendly look.

The Grub:

Here is my general rule for party food. If you have lots of room where your guests can sit down and chow, go for the food that involves a knife & fork. If your spot is on the small side (especially if you live in New York) the best solution is finger food where people can stand, hold a plate and munch while watching the game. If you are looking for different ideas other than your typical mini burgers, wings, and pizza, here are some ideas from one of my favorite shows on the food network, Big Daddy's House.

Also, make sure you lay out lots of bowls of chips, pita chips, salsa, guacamole, cookies, brownies around the house for people to grab and snack on.

If you don't feel like cooking you can always order food from great sites such as Fresh Direct that offer affordable catering or do a potluck and have your friends and family each bring a dish.

The Decorations:

On a budget and looking to decorate but not looking to go too over the top. Here a few simple solutions! Go to the dollar/discount store and pick up $1 dollar packs of balloons (usually get 6-8 balloons come in a pack). If the majority of your visitors are cheering for one team then buy those team colors. If you have a mixed crowd ( which is always more fun) purchase the colors of the two teams playing. (For example: Jets vs. Saints? You would buy Green/White and Black/Gold balloons).

You can also purchase mini plates, napkins, and cups in the colors as well.

It's also a cute idea to purchase a few footballs to have around the apartment. Foam footballs are always a safe bet.
